Meet Iowa’s Democratic candidate for State Treasurer!
Join us for an evening of good food, great conversation, and community at Lacy Mansion with John Norwood, Democratic candidate for Iowa Treasurer of State.
Date: Saturday, October 31, 2026
Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: Dubuque, Iowa (exact location provided after registration)
John brings more than 30 years of experience in finance, business strategy, and public service. He’s worked with small business owners, agricultural organizations, local governments, and nonprofits to help them make sound financial decisions and plan for the future. Since 2019, he’s served as a business advisor with the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program, helping Iowa entrepreneurs grow and succeed.
A former Polk County Soil and Water Conservation Commissioner, John has traveled to all 99 Iowa counties, listening to the challenges facing families, farmers, and small businesses.
Now, he’s running for State Treasurer because he believes Iowa needs an independent financial leader who will protect taxpayer dollars, plan responsibly for the future, and make state finances more transparent.
John’s priorities include:
- Protecting IPERS: Defending the retirement security of Iowa’s teachers, public employees, and retirees.
- Responsible financial management: Bringing greater transparency, accountability, and long-term planning to Iowa’s finances.
- Supporting Iowa families: Strengthening programs like ISave 529 that help families save for education.
- Investing in Iowa’s future: Exploring ways to keep more public dollars working in Iowa communities and supporting local businesses.
The State Treasurer’s Office plays an important role in Iowa’s financial future, from safeguarding public funds to overseeing programs that help families save. This is an opportunity to hear directly from John about his experience, his priorities, and what he hopes to accomplish.
And we’re making it a potluck! Bring a favorite dish, snack, or something to share if you’re able. Whether you bring something homemade or just yourself, we’d love to have you join us.
Come with your questions, bring a friend, and enjoy an evening connecting with John and your Dubuque County neighbors!
